By: CALI SKARET, Lake Voice From the outside, Campus Fuze doesn’t look like much. The tan, peeling paint and small sign don’t tell customers much about what’s inside.
But when you walk through the door, you’re instantly immersed with a clean, healthy vibe.
With over 100 different protein shake flavors, Campus Fuze is there to help people lead a healthier lifestyle.
“I work out a lot anyway,” Hayley Kehtel, an employee at Campus Fuze, said. “I think it’s just a healthier option. But I never started drinking Herbalife to lose weight, I just like the shakes.”
It seems like this is a win-win for Kehtel, she gets to drink something tasty and be healthy at the same time. Bre Legutko, the owner of Campus Fuze, noticed Kehtel’s frequent visits to the shop and quickly asked her if she wanted a job last April.
“I would come in and get shakes and Bre, the owner, just asked if I wanted to work since I wasn’t going to school,” Kehtel said. “She asked if I would be interested in working here and I said ‘absolutely.’”
One of the strange things about Campus Fuze is its inconsistent hours, especially in a college town.
The shop usually opens at 7 a.m. and is closed at 4 p.m., but some days they have to close early or for the whole weekend sometimes, according to their Facebook page.
The reason behind these odd hours is usually whether or not the store has product in stock.
“Normally we’re open from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., yesterday we had to close at 9 a.m. because we didn’t have any product, which is a bummer,” Kehtel said. “Other than that a lot of it just depends on Bre’s schedule.”
Many college students have tight schedules, and most of them never know when the shop will be open or closed. One customer even posted on their Facebook page asking for more of a heads up when they know they will be closed.
But Kehtel said a lot of people are coming in and asking about the LaBamba cleanse, which is a new hype for a lot of HerbaLife stores. According to behealthy2day.com, LaBamba cleanse consists of protein that keeps you from getting too hungry, a natural energy booster and a light digestive agent.
“When we first introduced LaBamba cleanse, a lot of people were coming in for that but a lot of people already know what they want and what they are doing,” Kehtel said. “But people aren’t afraid to ask about the products.”
If you want to check out the options they have, check out their Facebook page here. Or even better, you can check out the shop on the corner of Eighth Street and 19th Avenue East. Who knows, you might even be offered a job after a couple of visits.
