Duluth provides many options to those heading out on the town any night of the week

Whether it is Monday or Thursday, you can bet that everyone is waiting for the weekend. By the time Friday hits, everyone is ready to go enjoy a night out with friends or family, but you don't have to wait. Lake Voice News wants to help you find somewhere to relax and have a good meal, while saving on the deals, every day of the week; because a majority of people have their weekends already planned, here is your Monday through Thursday lineup for the Duluth area.

Monday: Burrito Union

Location: 1332 E 4th St, Duluth, MN 55805

Burrito Union, commonly referred to as BU, was built with a Soviet Union atmosphere. They have several different drink specials each night, but “Margarita Monday” is when you should be in attendance. All tequila drinks are half-off. After 9pm, any night of the week, you can buy a pint of beer for five dollars and receive two tacos for only a dollar more. There are televisions for you to watch at the bar, or you can grab a table or booth with your group of friends. One BU regular, Nik Karsseboom, has a tip for those new to the establishment. “Don’t take one Patron shot, if you don’t plan on taking two,” he says. The weekend doesn’t need to end on Sunday.

Tuesday: Dubh Linn Irish Pub Bar and Restaurant

Location: 109 W Superior St, Duluth, MN 55802

Every Tuesday at Dubh Linn's is bingo night. The event runs from 9-11pm, and it’s for all ages. This means Tuesday is a great night to get out with friends and family and try to win some great prizes. If you are over the age of 21, you can get a Long Island for $3.99. It’s a night that won’t keep you up late, and you get to yell bingo, something we can all enjoy. The bartenders will remind those who are not of age to return for their 21st birthday and receive a free “Ugly Betty” shot.

Need another reason?  You determine your own fate in this game of bingo. Winners get to spin a wheel to determine what type of prize they get.

Wednesday: Canal Park Brewing Company

Location: 300 Canal Park Dr, Duluth, MN 55802

There are a lot of places you can go out on a Wednesday within the Twin Ports, but I’m recommending you give this brewery a try. Buffalo Wild Wings has great deals on wings every Tuesday and Thursday, but Canal Park Brewery has unlimited wings from 9pm to close each Wednesday. You need to commit to paying for two beers pre-unlimited wing, but the wings are bound to be worth it. The unlimited wings are for a limited time only, though, so get there while you can. Manger, Richard Selz warns of changes coming to Wednesdays this summer. “More than likely, 'Wing Wednesdays' will be replaced with a combination of sushi and beer" he says.“It’s better than steak and eggs”. But, whether the special is wings or sushi, the beer itself is rewarding enough, with original brews such as Stoned Surf IPA, Ankle Deep Pilsner and Nut Hatchet Brown. You can buy any brew for a $1 off any night of the week after 9pm.

Need another reason? Starting at 9pm, every weeknight, appetizers are also half-off. Sorry Applebee’s.

Thursday: Anchor Bar

Location: 413 Tower Ave, Superior, WI 54880

You don’t need to travel far from Duluth, but on Thursdays I recommend you make the trip out to this "dive" bar. Unfortunately, you need to be 21 or have a parental guardian to be served anything at this establishment. It’s Wisconsin law. But, for those of age, you will not find a better place to get a burger. I underestimated the quality of the food and drinks for such a low price, but being wrong never tasted so good. Imagine trying a jalapeno cream cheese burger, or a buffalo burger that is loaded with hot sauce and blue cheese dressing, or a cashew burger, or just a standard cheese burger all for 5 dollars or less. And yes, that includes fries. Starting at 10pm and continuing until close, pitchers will be available for $2.50.

Over the next few weeks, try stopping at a few of these places. It won’t be a disappointing experience, and more than likely, it won’t be your last time going there. Whatever you decide to purchase, the tab will speak for itself. Step outside the norm of the “Big Name” establishments, usually the best buys can be found close to home.
