What is your year and major?I'm a junior majoring in Piano Performance and Jazz Studies.
What pieces will you be playing? I'll be playing J.S. Bach’s “Italian Concerto,” Wolfgang Mozart’s “Piano Sonata K576,” and Dmitri Kabalevsky’s Piano Sonata No. 3.
What is your favorite piece of music to play (in general or from your recital repertoire)? My favorite piece this time is Kabalevsky's. It's because of the childlike melody, cheerfulness, liveliness, but also combined with the complicated emotion of a wartime period. It's a piece with vivid imagination.
What would you like people to know about your recital? It's my first recital in Unites States, so I’m very nervous and excited at the same time. Three different pieces are going to bring you from Baroque to Classical and 20th century.
What is one piece of advice you have for incoming music students? Don't stress yourself, don't pile yourself with overload work, do what you like to do, dream for your goal and realize it.
