Friday, November 7 Kristallnacht Noon - 1:00 p.m. in Rotunda Library, floor 4 UMD Associate Professor Alexis Pogorelskin from the Department of History will give a presentation on Kristallnacht. Known as the "Night of Broken Glass," Kristallnacht occurred on November 9 and 10, 1938, in Germany and Austria. Paramilitary forces and non-Jewish civilians, ransacked Jewish homes, shops, hospitals, schools and over 1,000 synagogues were burned and desecrated. German authorities did nothing to stop the violence. Many historians view this event as the beginning of the Holocaust. Cost: Free
