Meet Mackenzie!

A girl wearing horn-rimmed glasses and a cheetah Snuggie sits curled up on a plush armchair. She diligently scrolls through her iPhone, chatting animatedly about the upcoming Hoodie Allen concert at the University of Wisconsin Superior this Thursday. Meet Mackenzie Elizabeth Higgins, a sophomore at the College of Saint Scholastica. She thoroughly enjoys her health information management major, and plans to add a computer information system minor sometime next year.

I decided to learn more about her, starting with asking the first questions that popped into my head.

“Through my program I’m going to have to intern, so I want to possibly find my career through my internship. I could go to Washington State or Boston or downtown Minneapolis. The possibilities are endless in my field.”

What do you like to do in your spare time?:

“I’m such a girl. I practice makeup techniques, paint my nails funky colors, just a whole bunch of girly stuff. I online window shop for HOURS too. That’ me.”

What’s your favorite color and why?

“Right now it’s turquoise or fuchsia because of the season but I really like red all the time. I like happy colors.”

If you could be any animal, what would you be and why?

“I want to be a lion because they symbolize strength and they’re regal.”

Describe yourself in 3 words:

“Ambitious. Passionate. Carefree. Or maybe bubbly, I’m not sure.”

What is your favorite memory?

“I was at my family’s cabin in Solon Springs, WI and we drove to a neighbors house and there were puppies. We got there and played with them and lined them up at the end of the driveway. I think I was 5 or 6. Then we went to the other side of the driveway and I clapped my hands to see which one would come, and a little black lab springer mix with one white paw came waddling over to me. I immediately fell in love and we took her home. I named her Samantha.”
