University of Minnesota Duluth Athletic Director Bob Nielson reprimanded the men’s hockey student section in a recent e-mail sent to student season ticket holders, condemning racial chants coming from the student section during the Feb. 10 and 11 games against the University of North Dakota Fighting Sioux. New chant rules have been imposed since the incident. Students participating in offensive chants will be ejected from games and face losing season tickets. Lauren Renneke gets a hands-on perspective of the student section at a UMD hockey game and asks students their opinion on the recent controversy.
